It's All Vases!

Rules and How to Break Them

vase flower arrangementJake Boone, beloved floral arranger, treats flowers like sculpture —he’s always in demand because his arrangements explode with color and petal-rific passion. BTW, we love this pink vase from The Dutch Connection.

Here now his valuable tips for putting flowers into vases:

  • Don’t be afraid of scale—don’t be timid!
  • You can do no wrong if you follow your heart.
  • Keep your arrangement in good, logical relationship to the vase—you don’t want the arrangement to be dwarfed.
  • If you’re going minimal, though, you might forget the last rule. You could do clusters of tulips cut low or grass.
  • Above all, don’t be so concerned about getting it right.
Play; don’t worry over old-fashioned rules!
