Shoe Knew!
Dynamic pair Sassy Jacobs and Sarah Cannova opened their first pink-walled designer shoe store in Georgetown in 2003, and have now set up funky shop in Baltimore’s Harbor East. Sassanova carries a wide yet well-chosen selection of shoes, ranging from Tory Burch and Cole Haan to Ellie Tahari and children’s shoes. The store also carries hip jewelry and fun accessories for all ages. 805 Aliceanna St., 410-244-1114, http://www.sassanova.com

Named Well
Madewell, a new kind of store from J. Crew Group, now lives in Annapolis. The hip women’s specialty retailer was named for an authentic work-wear company founded in Massachusetts in 1937. Pieces put a new spin on that tough timeless spirit. Indulge in garment-dyed denim, washed Italian leather jackets, graphic tees and Italian suede boots. We love the roomy store’s special offerings—“How-To” fashion Saturdays and a denim bar manned by people who know jeans inside out. This store is the eighth in a small chain that’s rapidly catching on among celebrities, artists and urban cool. 1535 Annapolis Mall 410-571-0843 http://www.madewell1937.com

Designing Women
Polliwogz is a classical, whimsical line designed by longtime pals Terri Westerlund, Brooke Davito and Julie Smith. Their triple-vision began with T-shirts decked in adorable felt appliqués of airplanes, boats, monkeys, elephants and more. Now the friends design skirts, dresses, pants and cutie-pie onesies. “Our line is very affordable and very comfortable,” Brooke says. “There is something for everyone!” Find clothes for three-month to six-year-old boys and girls, and eight- to 14-year-old girls. http://www.polliwogz.com

Don It Yourself
Jewels Ruxton is a new shop above The Little Shoebox at 1515 Labelle Avenue. Owned by women, the store aims to cater to gals who like pretty, shiny things and aren’t afraid to “self-purchase.” Sound like you? Zip over to the source and slip on a few slinky pieces to compensate for your fading tan. It’s only fair! Fine jewelry and heirloom pieces are showcased alongside youthful designer pieces from New York, California, Florida, but not Baltimore… Watches and costume jewelry are the icing on the icing! Opens in October
