New stores on the scene

The Shops at Quarry Lake

The quarry rocks

Love the idea of one-stop shopping, but despise the cookie-cutter aspect, parking-lot chaos and sheer lack of customer service? Now open in Baltimore: The Shops at Quarry Lake, a deep solution for one-stop-shopping fans longing for luxury and scenic style in the buy-it-all bargain.

Make a mental picture of stores, stores, stores among such a dramatic view of green-blue water you may think you’ve stepped into a gauzy painting. Add to the scene wide sidewalks, convenient outdoor seating, and elegant restaurants. There’s a life-saving Starbucks, of course, and nearby residential and office space, too, in case you want to spend your entire future in the pretty environs.

fresh groceriesPerhaps the biggest coup of all is the arrival of The Fresh Market, all 20,000 square feet of it. A family-owned North Carolina grocery, Fresh Market carries a delicious array of specialty foods and prepared dishes. It’s endless fun to browse the upscale aisles, sip free mini-cups of gourmet coffee, squeeze beautiful produce and pick a bunch of roses for your sweetheart. Fresh Market doesn’t carry soft goods, like paper products and detergent. But not to worry, Walgreen’s across the walkway catches all small needs. Also enjoy Maggie Moo’s creamy delights, Ciao! Pizza Bistro with hand-baked pies and gourmet salads, California Tortilla, Jasmine Asian Bistro (the new sushi chef is supposed to be great), Boardwalk Fries, Natural Cleaners, PostNet, MyCell, BB&T bank, Quarry Wine and Spirits, stationed right beside the market, and look for more favorite essentials. Women’s classic clothing boutique Lindy opens there this fall and more shops are on the way. Fresh Market, Starbucks, Walgreen’s and BB&T are open now. Other stores will open at the end of September and throughout the fall months.

Beazer Homes has begun construction on the residential division of Quarry Lake. Eighty-three single-family homes and 500+ condo units will soon be available. The two-and-a-half-mile path around the lake is ideal for joggers and dog-walkers, and even shoppers in need of refuge. Shop, eat, live and live it up—at Quarry Lake.
