Go Batty for Eyelash Extensions
Want a special look for the holidays? Eyelash extensions will give you that glamour girl look without taking it over the top. Not to be confused with drug-store false eyelashes, the single lash extensions are applied to the ends of the eyelash by a trained professional. One of the only Maryland technician trained by industry leader Novalash, Chris Adams of Spa in the Valley, applies the lashes in the comfort of a climate-controlled spa room, with soothing music and clean scents. Before you can blink, you’re relaxed, despite having your lower lashes taped down to avoid gluing shut the eyelid. The entire procedure takes just over an hour and lasts two months. Bonus feature: Novalash’s specially developed surgical-quality adhesive is safe for the eyes. Eyelash Extensions - $225, Spa in the Valley, Hunt Valley Towne Centre, 410.771.0200.
Beauty Book Review:
Glamour’s big book of dos and don’ts
Cindy Leive and the editors of Glamour (Gotham Books, 2006)
Who isn’t addicted to Glamour’s mercilessly snarky Dos and Don’ts page? Such bliss to pity the unassuming everywoman with her midriff baring sweater, her VPL in full view, her bosom too openly displayed. Glamour’s Big Book of Dos and Don’ts is every bit as much wacky fun, but with a twist: the editors pack in loads of how-to-dress tips, while writing in a friendly, thoughtful voice. Insider tips from top stylists like Isaac Mizrahi, who begs us never to buy too tight again, no matter who we are, add practicality to the schadenfruede. The glossary—including zany terms like back boob, Gwyneth jeans, and tanorexic—is hilarious. Rules we love? Stop with the pantyhose already. They’re not necessary unless your company requires them. If you’re pregnant, dress to showcase the beautiful bump, not conceal it. And our favorite: DO dress your body like you respect it. Attitude, not size, matters most. Hey, we knew that…but we tend to forget.
