Timothy Greene recommends deep tissue for post-workout therapy, especially for guys who train strenuously and don’t make time to stretch extensively before and after. Deep tissue is sometimes dubbed the massage that hurts, but a client should feel free to advise his therapist to ease up. Relaxation is important for maximum benefit. The therapist lifts the client’s muscles, kneading using thumbs, knuckles, and elbows, to eliminate toxins and release tension. One hour typically costs between $100 and $120.
