Saleisha Stowers Walks the Walk

Saleisha StowersWhen cover model Saleisha Stowers won America’s Next Top Model, Cycle 9, she didn’t waste much time patting herself on the back. An overachiever by nature, Saleisha, 21, immediately started strategizing toward her next goal, landing major modeling contracts to add to her impressive CoverGirl contract through ANTM.

“It is scary, being in this position all of a sudden, as a face of CoverGirl, but I’m super excited to be part of the brand—It’s amazing,” Saleisha says. “And I definitely want to be on the Victoria’s Secret runway this year. That’s a huge accomplishment for a model.”

Ask the bubbly young woman which aspect of modeling she’s most passionate about and Saleisha talks a little faster. She says she’s excited about all things media-related.

Saleisha Stowers“Modeling is a hard industry, but everything is hard,” she explains. “I love it all, runway, the shoots, (which are a little more difficult), the traveling. I love dressing up! But I definitely want to go on to television projects. I don’t want to limit myself to one thing. I’m pretty sure I can act, and I’m willing to try TV hosting. You only live once!”

Saleisha counts Tyra Banks, the creator and lead judge of ANTM, and Oprah Winfrey among her most inspiring role models, both for their multi-tasking savvy.

“I look up to so many women in the industry,” Saleisha says. “Strong women who have so much going on in their lives, but who are also giving back.”

When Saleisha isn’t charging the world of entertainment head on, she makes time for easy solitude.

“I’m a very outdoorsy girl—I’ll go rock climbing and horseback riding,” she says. “In my spare time I like to read. I like to keep to myself. Reading, watching Sponge Bob, and eating cereal, that’s me. Of course, I still love great clothes.”

Spokesperson pop quiz: What’s her favorite CoverGirl product right this minute?

“I love their lip gloss,” Saleisha says. “And I love the mascara, Volume Exact and LashBlast—they work so great. Have you tried them?”
