When we learned that Proctor + Gamble - home to both CoverGirl and MAX Factor cosmetics - is located right here in Baltimore, we made a dream field trip to the Hunt Valley site. Our goal: insider tips for fall.

Star makeup artist Pat McGrath, the brands’ global creative design director, shared step-by-step instructions. She says beauty this season is all about the luminous glow. Aim for clean, radiant skin, bold lips, and bright smoky eyes. Here’s how…

1. Fresh Face

Pat applies CoverGirl Advanced Radiance Liquid Makeup then dusts the entire face with CoverGirl Professional Loose Powder in Translucent Fair. To brighten the skin and achieve a youthful shine, she dabs CoverGirl Cheekers Blush in Rose Silk on the roundest part of the cheek.

2. Deep Dark Lips

To enhance fair complexions, Pat recommends CoverGirl Outlast Double Lipshine in Candy Apple.

For a decadent, layered lip look, Pat likes MAX Factor Lipfinity as a base. She coats the top lip with MAX Factor Colour Perfection Luxe Gloss in Ibiza Ice. Finally, she applies Cheekers Blush in Deep Rose to the bottom lip to create a silky, matte texture and a hint of contrast.

For an ultra-bold red kisser, Pat applies a base coat of CoverGirl IncrediFULL Lipcolor in Ruby Rush and Bold Bordeaux. To deepen the rich color, Pat lines the inner edge of the lips with CoverGirl Outlast Double Lipshine in Spring Wine.

Bright Eyes

Pat creates her legendary smoky bright eye look using MAXeye (as seen on Max Factor spokesmodel Carmen Electra).

She gets her deep plum, misty look by lining the entire eye with a flat shadow brush with MAXeye Liner in Night Club. Next, she blends the plum shade from the MAXeye Shadow Palette in Compass Rose over the liner. To create a glossy lid, Pat dabs Colour Perfection Luxe Gloss in Ibiza Ice on top of the shadow.

She finishes the eyes with two to three coats of Max Factor Lash Perfection Mascara in Rich Black.
