Greetings and ReadingsWe asked our go-to book guru Nancy Russell at Greetings and Readings to handpick helpful books for working mothers on the go. Her list follows. Reading time hard to come by?

To enhance your dream life, we suggest building a stack of inspiring books by your bedside table!

Always Kiss Me Goodnight: Instructions on Raising the Perfect Parent by 147 Kids Who Know How - compiled by J.S. Salt (Three Rivers Press) Organized into three sections, Love and Caring, Family and Friends, Guidance and Independence, this charming book compiles poignant and amusing soundbites from kids 6-12, inviting parents to be their best parenting selves. These short snippets are worth putting into practice.

Time For Mom-Me: 5 Essential Strategies for a Mother’s Self-Care - by Mia Redrick, (Finding Definitions, LLC) Moms, learn how to incorporate your own needs into your demanding daily schedule. Yes, there’s a way to honor your own dreams and aspirations while still being an A+ Mom.

This Is How We Do It; A Practical Guide for the Working Mother - by Carol Evans (Plume) Working Mother Magazine CEO Evans asks, “How do working mothers make it through the day?” In response she describes her life as a busy magazine-publishing mom and shares relevant experiences of her busy mom readership. Reading this book is like having a wise friend to talk over coffee.

The Busy Family Cookbook - by the editors of Taste of Home, (Readers’s Digest) This handy cookbook designed to save time is organized into 10-minute recipes, 20-minute, 30- and 60-minute meals. Speedy ones come first. We appreciate the variety of meal options, including veggie entrees, and the simple way the authors list ingredients and prep steps. Very convenient when there’s little time to cook!

How To Cheat at Organizing - by Jeff Bredenberg (The Taunton Press) We like the author’s advice to “Celebrate getting rid of stuff instead of acquiring.” Bredenberg offers doable tips on organizing just about everything: the living room, the medicine cabinet, the car… But he does it with a sense of humor, reminding us that the Queen of England is actually not coming for tea, encouraging us to be gentle with ourselves as we set new lifestyle goals.
