Start with trying on last year’s holiday wear and then go shopping. Look for new evening separates like a new pair of black velvet pants or a short bell shaped skirt or a white ruffled blouse. Then wear the old with the new and mix and match for each new party crowd. Jewel tones, like royal blue or bright red are hot this season so a great investment would be a new blouse or dress in a beautiful color. If you own a pretty LBD, add a shrug or cashmere cardigan to change the look. Accessories are always a great way to spruce up an outfit. Tie a satin ribbon around your waist. Pile on necklaces for an ornate look. Change your shoes—wear platforms with tights one night and sandals the next. Wear leggings with your new skirt. Throw on something gold you’ve had for years and wear it with black—black and gold are very chic this season. Pull your hair back with a pretty wide headband. Switch your lipstick. Add fur to a lapel.
